Parent Workshops
Every job needs training. Most careers require months or years of training and experience. In fact we expect the professionals who deal with our children to be appropriately qualified and well trained.
But, as parents, we expect love to be enough for a demanding and challenging occupation with long hours and no pay. But love is not the only thing that we need to be good parents. Parents need skills and support.
Here are two programs that can help parents develop the practical skills they need to support their children and help themselves. The workshops were developed in America by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish based on the work of Dr Haim Ginott.
The workshops focus on developing better communications between adults and children. They teach some essential skills that can change relationships and bring about immediate practical improvements in day-to-day family life.
